So, yeah. Apparently, one of our spy satellites has lost power and may hit earth. We all very well may die!
But I get ahead of myself. Officials say that they had no control over the malfunctioning satellite and that people may be in danger of falling debris, of which they have no idea as to where it might land.
“Appropriate government agencies are monitoring the situation,” Gordon Johndroe, a spokesman for the National Security Council, said in a statement. “Numerous satellites over the years have come out of orbit and fallen harmlessly. We are looking at potential options to mitigate any possible damage this satellite may cause.”
Satellite specialists believe that it is a Lockheed Martin experimental satellite and that technicians lost control over it as soon as it entered orbit.
Officials say that satellites fall from space all the time and that we may not be in danger. The fact that the satellite was pumped full of rocket fuel and that it barely used any up has caused some concern, due to rocket fuel’s reputation for being, you know, flammable.
So yeah, in the coming months, be wary of giant fireballs falling from the sky. Wear armored hats and fireproof earmuffs and you should be fine.
